Stavanger TF: Full time coaches of Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG)

Stavanger Turnforening (Stavanger Gymnastics Association) is located in the city of Stavanger on the west cost of Norway. The city is Norway’s fourth largest and has a broad international community with Oil-industry, university and NATO. Stavanger Turnforening is one of the city´s largest sports clubs with 1500 members in 2019. The association was established 17 May 1861, as one of the city’s first sports associations. The size of the association together with the extent of the various activities and the long traditions, allows the association to stand out as a significant institution in Stavanger.

Stavanger Turnforening (STF) has a wide offer of activities for recreational gymnastics and two competition branches, rhythmic gymnastics and artistic gymnastics (WAG and MAG). STF had a male gymnast competing in Rio 2016.

STF seeks 1-2 full time coaches (one of them will be head coach) for Elite Artistic Gymnastics Woman (WAG) starting November 1’st 2019 or by agreement.

The successful candidate should be enthusiastic and prepared to coach gymnasts at all ages and levels.

Professional responsibility

  • To develop and implement training plans, and be the responsible for the every day training.
  • Make the routines for the gymnasts
  • Follow up the plans and evaluation of gymnasts.
  • Contribute in increasing the competence level
  • Contribute positively, in the coaching team and build positive culture and philosophy among athletes and coaches.

Qualifications:

  • Higher academic coaching course or high level experience
  • Minimum 5 years experience in coaching
  • Be up to date on the CoP
  • Good spotting skills
  • Pedagogical skills
  • Valid certificate of good conduct from the Police is required, application will be sent by agreement
  • Scandinavian or English language skills

Personal Characteristics:

  • Good interpersonal skills and have a positive relationship building personality
  • Energetic, flexible and self driven with a passion to the sport and the gymnasts
  • Hard working
  • Good leadership skills
  • Team worker

The coach must work within the guidelines and rules that apply to Norwegian sport in general and according to strategies and action plans for Stavanger Turnforening. Work hours will be mainly afternoon and evening work, weekend and school holidays. Traveling in connection with competitions and training camps.

We have approximately 30 WAG gymnasts from 7-18 years old in 4 different training groups. They are competing on regional and national level. Our aim is to have gymnasts on the National Team and further develop into international level.

A detailed instruction for the position will be prepared in agreement with the employed person. Salary and conditions to be agreed upon. Opportunity for Norwegian language courses.
